Chapter 22 Pink-haired Disguised Girl
Chapter 22 Pink-haired Disguised Girl
Lin Ximeng checked the time on his phone; it was 3:58 PM.
"It's almost time."
Lin Simon casually found an empty seat and sat down. Less than a minute later, the young man, Jebsey, took a big gulp of his iced Americano, and his face turned as white as if he had just been fished out of the freezer.
The next moment, Jebsey suddenly stood up.
Jebsey grabbed a nearby employee and yelled, "The toilet! Where's the toilet?"
The shop assistant frowned as he pulled her, and pointed towards the back door.
Before Jebsey could even finish saying "thank you," he dashed off like he was being chased by a dog, forgetting to even grab his coat from the back of the chair.
Lin Simon stared at the back door for half a minute, making sure that Jebsey hadn't turned around and that no one was paying attention to him, before slowly moving toward table number 17.
He walked to the table and glanced at it: a half-full glass of iced Americano sloshing around with a straw sticking out at an angle, and nothing else on the table.
"According to my intelligence, the wallet was definitely not taken."
Thinking this, Lin Ximeng looked around the sofa again, but still found nothing.
Lin Simon frowned, recalling Jebsey's posture earlier: leaning to the left, his left hand in his pocket, and his left buttock pressed against the sofa.
He simply sat down in Jebsey's seat, leaned to the side like the kid, and reached his left hand into the left sofa cushions—he breathed a sigh of relief as soon as his fingertips touched something hard.
"So that's where it is."
He used his fingers to pry open the gap, and a short black wallet slowly emerged, clearly having been rubbed into the gap by his sitting posture.
Simon Lin opened his wallet, inside were a few crumpled one-dollar bills, a gas station membership card, and a yellowed white card with two lines of text written on it in ballpoint pen:
The account name is "Jebix1998", and the password is "Beer12345". Note: Bought for $15, I must become the number one commissioned hunter!
"This kid's got some passion."
Lin Ximeng took out his phone, opened the Silk Traveler App, entered his account and password, and successfully logged in.
Upon entering his personal profile, he almost burst out laughing: all the security settings were grayed out, the password recovery email was empty, and he hadn't even linked a mobile phone for verification.
"Thanks, bro. I'll make your passionate dream come true."
Following the system prompts, Lin Ximeng first registered his email address and then changed his password.
Now, this account is completely mine.
After doing all this, Lin Simon put the white card back into his wallet, and then stuffed the wallet back into the sofa cushions of table number 17.
Lin Ximeng sat back in the corner, opened "My Tasks" in the app, and found only one task: "Offline Negotiation Stand-in".
The quest giver's profile picture is a pink rabbit holding a small scythe, and their ID is "Evil Rabbit". The quest was accepted three days ago.
He glanced at the mission description and the chat history between the two.
In perfect agreement with the intelligence system, Evil Rabbit has entrusted herself to come to Starbucks today to represent her and negotiate with her "client," a wealthy woman.
Lin Ximeng had just gone through the mission information in his mind when he saw Jebsey come out of the toilet.
Unlike when he rushed in earlier, when his face was contorted in pain, he now looked relaxed and carefree.
He was completely different from when he went in, hunched over and clutching his stomach. Now he stood up straight, stretched out his arms, and hummed off-key country music.
Jebsey swaggered back to table number 17, and the moment his bottom touched the sofa, he let out a "Huh?" and reached into the gap to pull out his wallet.
He checked the wallet over and over again, squeezed the few one-dollar bills, and felt the gas station membership card to make sure nothing was missing. Then he casually tossed the wallet on the corner of the table, picked up his iced Americano, and took a big gulp.
Just then, my phone chimed and the screen lit up: it was a message notification from the Silk Traveler App.
Lin Ximeng quickly clicked on it, and the "Evil Rabbit" avatar popped up on the screen: "I'm almost at Starbucks, where are you?"
He typed quickly: "Table 31 on the left after entering the room."
Less than half a minute later, the glass door of Starbucks was pushed open.
Lin Ximeng looked up and saw a girl walk in.
Her long pink hair was tied into a high ponytail, with a silver star hair clip at the end, and she wore a pair of retro cat-eye sunglasses.
The girl with the high ponytail glanced down at her phone, swiped her finger across the screen, and quickly fixed her gaze on table number 31.
She walked straight to the person opposite Lin Ximen and asked, "Kamen Rider?"
Kamen Rider is the account name that Jebsey registered on the Silk Traveler App, so it has now become Simon Lin's account name.
Lin Ximeng nodded, and the girl with the high ponytail pulled out a chair, sat down, and took off her sunglasses.
The girl had long, curled eyelashes and skin that was exceptionally fair and delicate, a rarity among Europeans. One glance was enough to make you unable to look away.
Lin Ximeng discovered that the girl was completely different from her ID; she wasn't evil at all, but had the appearance of an angel.
[Skill activated, Disguise detected lv.0]
You notice that the other person has disguised themselves, changed their appearance, and even concealed some of their beauty.
Lin Ximeng was somewhat surprised. He could tell that the girl with the high ponytail had long pink hair that was a high-end custom-made wig, but he didn't expect that her current appearance was still self-uglified.
But considering that the other party is engaged in this kind of sex scam business, it's normal for them to use a disguise to protect themselves.
After Evil Rabbit sat down, it didn't say anything, but just stared straight at Lin Simon.
"A woman's intuition?" Lin Ximeng knew that the other party might have subconsciously sensed something was wrong and was probably suspicious of his identity.
So Lin Ximeng didn't back down and met her gaze head-on, glaring back immediately.
"It's just training a hawk, who's afraid of who?"
The coffee machines around them were making a sizzling sound, and the two of them remained frozen in place.
Finally, three minutes passed, and Evil Rabbit couldn't hold back any longer; its big eyes started to sting and tear up.
She quickly turned her face away, rubbed her eyes, and said in a muffled voice, "The information you registered on the app clearly shows you're a white person, so what's going on?"
Lin Ximeng scoffed and leaned back in his chair: "Who would register real information for something like this?"
He glanced at the other person, seemingly somewhat swayed by his own words, and quickly added, "Just like you, aren't you also not showing your true face right now?"
Evil Rabbit's hand suddenly stopped, and he looked up at Lin Ximeng, his eyes full of surprise.
She bought this wig at a flea market; it was a high-fidelity model, and the glue was the same one used by professional makeup artists.
Disguise has always been one of her specialties; only the closest and most familiar people can find any flaws in her disguise.
How did he slip up on his first meeting with Lin Ximeng?
"We hit the jackpot! This guy definitely registered a new account on the app. A seasoned veteran, we found the right person this time!"
