Chapter 1902 The Zhang Family
Chapter 1902 The Zhang Family
Chapter 1902 Going Home
Everyone was surprised to hear that there was food on the plane, and they were all invigorated.
Ye's mother clutched the cloth bag containing dry food. "How did you know there was food on the plane?"
"I just overheard people around me talking about lunchtime, and they mentioned that lunch is provided on the plane at this time and it's free."
Otherwise, how would she know that this was only her second time flying?
Mother Ye was also beaming with joy, "That's great, they even provide meals, that's nice, it's worth the expensive airfare. We'll eat our fill on the plane, eat as much as we can, and make it all worthwhile."
Mr. Ye laughed and said, "Then quickly stuff your dry food into your luggage bag and put it away. You don't need to carry it in your hands, it's too much trouble. Eat more later, eat more to make up for the airfare."
Ye Yaodong: "I peed on the plane and haven't eaten yet, so I'll have to experience it later."
After the ticket gates opened, they moved slowly forward with the flow of people, carrying large and small bags.
Ye Xiaoxi was carrying a plastic bag in one hand, filled with fruit and snacks, and muttering, "Finally going home. My legs are so thin from walking so much these past few days."
"Your legs are thin? I think you've gained weight." Ye Chengyang glanced at her.
"You're the one who's gained weight!"
Lin Xiuqing turned around and glared at them: "What's all the noise about? Keep up, or you'll get lost in the crowd."
The queue moved slowly forward, tickets were checked, and passengers passed through the jet bridge and entered the cabin.
The flight attendant, dressed in a dark blue uniform, stood at the cabin door, smiling and nodding: "Welcome aboard."
Father Ye: "Hehe, okay, thank you, thank you..."
Mother Ye: "You're actually quite polite?"
"You know what, the locals are really polite. They always use the polite form of address, and thank you. It's so pleasant and civilized to hear. After drinking the water from Beijing for a few days, I feel like I've become more civilized myself."
"Stop arguing, you two sit here and put your luggage upstairs."
Ye Yaodong checked the seats on the plane tickets in his hand, arranged seats for his parents first, and then had the others find their own seats.
As soon as Mr. Ye sat down, he stared out the window. "Hey, another airplane wing. I love sitting here. Dongzi, take a picture of me later, and remember to capture the airplane wing!"
"Okay, wait a minute, let others sit down first."
"I forgot to take pictures when I came, but luckily I remembered when I saw the wings of the plane."
"I'll take a picture of each of you later."
Mr. Ye was even more satisfied. He had taken a lot of photos on this trip, which would make him talk about them for a long time when he got back.
The twins had barely sat down when they eagerly asked, "When will the food be served?"
"We're starving, where are we going to eat?"
The two of them eagerly asked one question at a time, craning their necks to look around, but they couldn't see any food anywhere.
Ye Huimei said irritably, "Let's eat in the sky."
"The space inside the plane is so small, is it really possible to eat there?"
"Just wait, you won't go hungry. Sit down quietly." Ye Huimei disliked her two sons, who were noisy, restless, talkative, and troublesome.
Taking advantage of the empty aisle, Ye Yaodong quickly took photos of each of them, otherwise he would definitely not be allowed to take pictures once the plane started taxiing.
A moment later, the flight attendant's voice came over the loudspeaker, reminding everyone of the important points.
The plane began to taxi.
The aircraft shook, accelerated, pitched up, and lifted off the ground.
Everyone had already flown on a plane once, but when the plane taxied and took off, they were still nervous, one hand holding the seatbelt and the other the armrest, their eyes staring out the window with a mixture of excitement and tension.
About half an hour later, the announcement came again: "Dear passengers, we will begin serving your meals. Please lower your tray tables..."
The younger ones were instantly invigorated.
"Is it time to eat?" Ye Xiaoxi's eyes lit up.
"Time to eat!"
"The flight attendant brought the food!"
"This time we're going to eat in the heavens, living the life of immortals," Father Ye said happily.
Ye's mother rolled her eyes at Ye's father, "What nonsense are you talking about?"
"I wonder what kind of food you ate? Was it good...?"
Everyone eagerly awaited the meal on the plane, watching the flight attendants serve the food from both ends, craning their necks to wait.
"Don't worry, we'll be there soon," Ye Chengyang said.
The food cart was finally pushed to their row, and the flight attendant smiled and handed them several plates: "Hello, would you like beef rice or chicken rice?"
"I can choose again? I want beef!"
"I want beef too!"
"Do you need any drinks? We have water, juice..."
"I want juice..."
Everyone was really looking forward to it, and they didn't expect to get food and drinks.
"I thought it was all-you-can-eat, but it turns out it's just a boxed meal."
"That's not bad, there's food and drinks too."
"I wasted my time on the last flight; there was no food, only water."
"They were so stingy on that flight, I won't take that flight next time."
"This flight was worth it."
They picked up their tickets at the same time, so their tickets were close together, and both rows of seats were occupied by their own people, making it easy for them to whisper and talk amongst themselves.
Everyone ate their meals very seriously after receiving them, mixing the soup into the rice and leaving not a single grain.
After finishing his meal, Mr. Ye smacked his lips and said, "The food on this plane is quite delicious."
"Of course, the cost is included in the airfare," said Ye's mother.
Ye Yaodong added, "The drinks can be refilled. If you want more drinks later, just ask them to pour some more."
The twins spoke first: "If you're going to pour it, add more."
Ye Huimei: "If you drink too much, you'll pee a lot later."
"Then we can pee on the plane."
"Alright, once you've finished eating, behave yourselves. After they take the empty boxes away, don't say anything. Rest for a while. I get tired just listening to you two talk."
After the flight attendant cleared away the meal trays, the cabin quieted down, and the warm sunlight streamed in.
Some people started to doze off, some flipped through magazines, and some stared at the clouds outside the window, unable to get enough of them.
Time ticked by. The announcement came over the loudspeaker again: "Dear passengers, the plane is beginning its descent. Please stow your tray tables and straighten your seatbacks..."
The big guys in the cabin perked up and started talking louder.
The plane continued its descent, and from high altitude, we could already see forests, trees, buildings, and rivers on the ground.
Half an hour later, after a slight bump, the wheels touched the ground, the machine shook, glided, and slowed down.
"We've arrived," Ye Yaodong said softly.
The plane came to a stop on the tarmac. An announcement came over the loudspeaker: "Thank you for choosing this flight..."
A rustling sound came from inside the cabin as people began to get up and collect their luggage.
Ye Xiaoxi stretched and said, "Finally home."
"We haven't even left the airport yet," Ye Chenghu said.
"It's coming soon."
The family, carrying large and small bags, waited in line and then slowly walked out of the cabin with the flow of people.
It was a bit stuffy inside the plane, but a wave of heat hit me as soon as I stepped outside.
"Oh, it still tastes the same." Mr. Ye sniffed.
"What does it taste like?" Ye Chenghu asked.
"The taste of home."
Ye's mother was used to teasing her, saying, "Your home isn't here, you're just smelling the wrong scent."
"Is the southern flavor alright? It's true that it's cooler in the north, and it's a bit hot here."
"Isn't it hot at three in the afternoon?"
"Hurry up, you're blocking the way for the people behind you." Ye Yaodong walked past them carrying large and small bags.
They hadn't walked more than a few steps when they were all covered in sweat.
Lin Xiuqing and Ye Chenghu went to the parking lot to find their car before driving to the exit to pick them up.
Everyone felt a little more comfortable after getting on the bus.
"It's so hot. It's already September and it's still this hot."
Ye Yaodong picked up a fan from the car and fanned himself, then said to his parents, "You two should stay a couple more days and take a break. You're getting on in years, and you've been playing too much these past few days. Take a breather before taking the boat home. Otherwise, the continuous travel might not be enough for your health."
Although the two were eager to return home, they were indeed exhausted these past few days, not to mention that they would have to take a two-day boat trip to get home.
They nodded, offering no objections.
"Get a good night's sleep when you get home. I'll take the photos to be developed tomorrow morning and bring them back to you."
"Okay, go back and rest first. We can talk about this later. There's no rush."
The special forces tour lasted several days and was tiring not only for the old, but also for the young and the children.
It was the time of day when everyone was feeling sleepy in the afternoon, and they all fell asleep on the bus. When the bus stopped and I called them back, they were still half asleep.
"Got home?"
"so tired……"
"Finally home..."
They all got off the bus half-dead, while those in good condition could even stretch.
"Going out to play isn't that enjoyable, and it's also very tiring."
"I miss my soft, big bed..."
Ye Yaodong was moving things out of the trunk and called them over to help him. "Help me put everything in, then take a shower and go back to sleep. If you're hungry, just make some instant noodles for dinner. Nobody has time to cook anything when they're exhausted."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
After taking a shower and lying in bed, Ye Yaodong finally breathed a sigh of relief.
There's no place like home; home is always the most comfortable.
"Of course it's more comfortable at home. You can't get used to the food or sleep well when you're out, and you're exhausted from playing games."
"Did they register on September 1st?"
"Yes, Chenghu will be on September 13th. Give them the money, and they can register and pay the tuition themselves then."
"I'll take a couple of days off, then I'll go to Zhoushan with my parents and see them off on their way home."
Seeing Lin Xiuqing still packing her things, Ye Yaodong said, "Aren't you tired? What are you still packing for? You can pack tomorrow. You just got back and drove for so long. Why don't you get some sleep?"
"I'll tidy up my dirty clothes first. I feel uncomfortable having a bunch of luggage sitting there untidy."
"A life of toil."
"Isn't this just a life of toil?"
When the family returned, the house remained quiet all night.
The next day, just as dawn broke, faint noises could be heard coming from the stairwell, along with the clanging of pots and pans from downstairs.
Yesterday, everyone went back to their rooms before dark. After a night of rest, everyone was back to normal early this morning, and it was rare to have everyone together for breakfast.
Ye Yaodong noticed one was missing, "Where's Chenghu?"
Lin Xiuqing replied, "He went to pick up the two dogs."
"So rushed, you haven't even eaten."
"Dongzi, nothing much to do today, how about we go check out the shipyard? Or maybe your freight depot?"
"Sure, it's good that you've recovered."
"I'll be fine after a night's rest. There's no way I can't recover. I could take a boat back to my hometown right now, but I'm thinking of staying in Shanghai for at least a couple of days since I just arrived."
Ye's mother exposed his lie, saying, "I think you just want to wait until the photos are developed and take one back with you; that's the real reason."
Ye Yaodong said with a smile, "I'll take it to be washed after we finish eating and ask them to expedite it."
"Get it washed quickly, I want to see my photos too!" Ye Xiaoxi said, putting down her chopsticks.
"Have you finished your summer homework? Stop thinking about the photos, school starts the day after tomorrow."
"I know, I only have two essays. I'll go now, it won't even take an hour."
Ye Yaodong didn't say anything more to her. Instead, Ye Xiaoxi dragged a stool to his side, sat close to him, and said affectionately, "Dad, don't forget about the Canton Fair. You'll definitely need to buy tickets in advance. Remember to add two tickets for me and Xiaoyu when you buy the group tickets."
Ye Yaodong glanced at her sideways, "You just got back from Beijing, and you're already thinking about Guangzhou again? Aren't you tired?"
"I'm not tired. I'm young, energetic, and full of vitality. I could set off right now."
"If only I had this kind of energy when I was a beast of burden."
"You want me to be your slave? You'll have to wait until I finish my studies and graduate. You can't force me to grow up like this now."
"I bought the tickets a week in advance, and there's still a month to go, what's the rush? You're already thinking about the next meal right after finishing the last one."
"I'm just reminding you, otherwise what if you forget about us when you return to Zhou City and become too busy?"
"If you've forgotten, then forget it. Anyway, I took you all to the capital, so that's some compensation."
"No, those are two different things. Anyway, just remember my and Xiaoyu's tickets."
After Ye Xiaoxi finished speaking, she winked at Pei Yu.
Ye Huimei shook her head, looking at the two with doting eyes, "Do you like running around so much?"
"This sounds fun, Dad! It's settled then!"
Ye Yaodong did not respond, intending to acquiesce, but Ye Xiaoxi demanded a definite answer from him, shaking his arm.
"Don't get so busy in Zhou City that you forget about things and then go out to sea. Remember to give me instructions when you get to Zhou City."
She was also afraid that her father would forget about it when he returned to Zhoushan tomorrow. After all, her father would probably go to sea in a few days and forget about them. If he did, no one would arrange their tickets and take them to Guangzhou, and they would be forced to postpone it until next year.
That won't do. It's a rare opportunity to go this year.
"Okay, okay, you're annoying. I'll tell you as soon as I get to Zhoushan tomorrow, alright?"
"That's more like it, thank you, Father."
"Go back to your own seat, don't sit next to me, you're squeezing me so I can't even stretch my arms out."
"I'm full, I'm going to get out of your way right now, so I won't get in your way."
She picked up the empty bowls and chopsticks, happily walked to the kitchen, and went upstairs to finish her summer homework first.
After she finished speaking, Ye Chengyang also gave her a reminder.
"Dad, don't forget about my and my brother's group tickets."
The twins: "You all went, what about us?"
What about us?
Ye Huimei slapped him across the face, "You guys stay home and don't try to follow me everywhere. Do you want to eat my ass?"
"They're leaving us behind in everything."
"Who told you to be young?"
Ah Guang glared at the two of them, "You two better behave yourselves. When you grow up, you can go wherever you want, no one will stop you."
P.S.: At least I added one more picture.
