Chapter 1684: Chapter 798: Don’t Be Too Nice to Me (Happy Dragon Boat Festival)_2"Not here, right?" Yan Fei walked over and asked in a low voice.

"Mm, not here." Yang Xing was immersed in anticipation and completely missed the unusual tone in Yan Fei’s voice. "He’s currently at Professor Carter’s lab. Professor Carter, a friend of Professor Hans, has an independent lab off campus sponsored by a company. It’ll be more convenient for us to go there."

...

Professor Hans drove a somewhat feminine yellow compact car himself; he didn’t rely on assistants. He drove Yang Xing and Yan Fei straight off campus.

It seemed close to noon by then. The three ate a quick meal and spent over an hour making their way to Professor Carter’s lab.

What surprised Yan Fei was that Professor Carter turned out to be a Black man. In America, skin color often carries significant weight. Not only had Carter managed to become a professor, but he’d also had a lab built solely for him. This could only mean one thing: he was truly extraordinary.

Perhaps this was why Professor Hans, Yan Fei, Yang Xing, and even Carter’s lab team had no ’objections’ to Yan Fei and Yang Xing’s presence.

Professor Torres and Mrs. Torres arrived together; neither was very old, and both were scientific re

He powered up the massive supercomputer that Yan Fei had already been eyeing, a machine far larger than any regular computer he’d seen before. Carter grinned mischievously at Yan Fei and said, "This is Silicon Valley’s latest creation. I think young people like you will surely find it fascinating. And if it still doesn’t amuse you, the data stored inside it might... You’ll soon discover there’s never enough time."

Due to Carter’s skin color, Yan Fei couldn’t discern his age but figured he was likely around Professor Hans’ age. One thing was certain: this Black professor was undeniably kind. Letting him personally operate the advanced computer and granting access to the data inside—a gesture far beyond mere friendliness.

Take this computer, for instance. Yan Fei could bet that America wasn’t about to sell such technology to China anytime soon. As for the data within, judging by America’s general disposition, there’s likely plenty they wouldn’t want outsiders to see... otherwise Carter wouldn’t have smirked while hinting that Yan Fei might find himself short on time.

It was, in fact, a thoughtful warning.

Perhaps in Professor Carter’s eyes, science was truly borderless.

Yang Xing threw Yan Fei a supportive and encouraging glance, subtly expressing gratitude toward Carter—no need for excessive words. After all, in the eyes of certain strict Americans, Carter’s current behavior would amount to a crime.

Sigh!

Yan Fei sighed heavily internally.

Initially, he’d thought the Torres couple would behave atrociously, but instead, their despair had rendered them impartial to everyone. Professor Carter’s actions further dispelled any resentful notions; Yan Fei felt genuinely helpless.

Not to mention, let’s not forget: it was Professors Hans and Carter who had been persuading the Torres couple to return the fossil from the start—even before it was proven fake.

And so, sitting in front of the supercomputer, Boss Yan could only feel nothing but helplessness. Such an impressive tool, but lacking any excuse to use it, why hadn’t anyone managed to offend him?

Wishing for someone to offend him—this absurd longing for conflict had become Boss Yan’s greatest desire.

Now, all he could do was work hard to memorize the information stored inside, even plenty of content he couldn’t comprehend. With his excellent memory, he figured he’d read and recollect as much as possible, to report back to Yang Xing later and ensure that this visit wasn’t in vain.

After all, without Yang Xing’s involvement, he might never have come here due to Anderson’s meddling, let alone encountered the opportunities he was experiencing now.

"You have treated me with the respect of a statesman; in return, I will treat you with the honor of one."

But why was it that when he needed someone to ’treat me like grass,’ nobody did?

Boss Yan was filled with resentment...
