Chapter 7 Badger: Brothers, there's an ambush!
Chapter 7 Badger: Brothers, there's an ambush!
Xu Ran checked the surveillance footage and saw several nimble badgers happily feasting on watermelons.
It turned out they were the ones stealing the melons.
Unfortunately, there was no Runtu in this era.
Otherwise, they would all have to be forked away one by one.
These guys seemed to be having a great time eating in front of the camera, but Xu Ran, the owner of the melon patch, wasn't so happy.
"They eat it, but they only take a couple of bites before moving on to the next one."
"I'll have to teach them a lesson tonight."
Xu Ran thought to himself.
"Brother, they really are badgers. We need to teach them a lesson."
Seeing this, Li Wu spoke with righteous indignation.
Xu Ran waved her hand, "It's okay, you can get some rest tonight, I'll take care of it."
"Brother, why don't you come yourself?"
"I'll do it, you don't need to worry about it."
Since Xu Ran had already said that, Li Wu had no choice but to give up.
Xu Ran needs to complete the mission and find a way to capture these cunning badgers.
That evening.
Xu Ran, with three Border Collies, ambushed in the melon shed next to the melon field.
This melon shed was originally used as a summer retreat and was generally uninhabited, but now it has come in handy.
"You'll be in a bit. Just catch them, but don't kill them."
Xu Ran is giving lessons to three Border Collies.
All three nodded.
"Little Grey, you're too young. Just watch the show, don't go on."
Xu Ran then looked at Little Gray and made special arrangements for it.
Little Grey nodded.
"Alright, then let's wait."
"The badger is definitely coming."
Xu Ran waited patiently.
The night was dark and the wind was high.
The moon is very round tonight, but the moonlight is not as bright as I imagined. It's pitch black all around, and I can't see anything.
Xu Ran turned on the searchlight on the melon shed.
The light from the CD player dispelled the darkness and illuminated the melon patch.
As time passed little by little.
In the darkness, several nimble little thieves darted down from the mountains.
They peered towards the melon patch, their eyes filled with longing.
Upon hearing the noise, the two adult Border Collies immediately stood up alertly and pricked up their ears.
Xu Ran also noticed the badger approaching.
Badgers are not fast.
Even Runtu could plant them, so it wasn't difficult for the sheepdog to catch them.
Moreover, Xu Ran was already in excellent physical condition, and after being enhanced by the nutrient solution, he was already at the level of an athlete.
Catching a few badgers wouldn't be a big problem for him.
"Cola, Sprite, get ready to go."
Xu Ran gave commands to the two adult Border Collies.
The black and white Border Collie is named Cola, the meteorite Border Collie is named Sprite, and their son is Little Gray.
The two adult Border Collies immediately adopted an attack stance.
Xu Ran watched from afar, feeling the time was right, and gave the order:
"Rush!"
The next second, the adult Border Collie burst out, like a wild horse, moving at incredible speed.
At the same time, Xu Ran also rushed out carrying an iron cage.
Little Gray followed behind. Although it wasn't responsible for catching the animals, it was always there to join in the fun.
Under the moonlight, in the melon field, a thrilling "capture game" is unfolding.
The badgers were happily selecting watermelons when a sudden whooshing sound made them instantly panic.
Badger A: Oh no, an ambush!
Badger B: Get out of here!
Badger C: Brothers, run!
They tried to escape, but they weren't fast enough.
Before long, the two adult badgers were bitten by the scruff of their necks by the Border Collies and pinned to the ground.
Xu Ran was equally fast, rushing over, grabbing a badger, lifting it up, and stuffing it into an iron cage.
The badger tried to struggle, but once it fell into Xu Ran's hands, it wouldn't be so easy to escape.
He caught a badger, but without stopping, he immediately chased after the rest.
These guys tried to run, but they couldn't run fast. In the end, Xu Ran, with the help of two Border Collies, caught all five badgers and put them into a cage.
This is also a theft gang.
"They've tried to steal my melons!"
"We lost a lot of watermelons last year, at least a hundred. Watermelons were cheap then, so it was okay to lose money."
"Not this year."
Xu Ran educated the badger.
The badger, of course, couldn't understand.
Five badgers huddled together in the iron cage, eyeing Xu Ran with some apprehension.
Although badgers are considered the ugliest of the mustelids, not as agile as sables, weasels, or otters, they are still quite cute upon closer inspection.
Worried about scaring the creatures, Xu Ran picked a watermelon from the ground, cut it into several pieces, and put it in the cage.
"Eat first, I'll call the police tomorrow, and you can leave it to them."
Xu Ran comforted them.
When the five guys saw the watermelon arrive, they didn't care about anything else and immediately lowered their heads to devour it.
Badgers are protected animals; you can catch them but you cannot harm them. If there are any problems, just call the police.
For others, protected animals only exist in videos, but for the people in the mountain village, there are many protected animals here.
In winter, it's not uncommon for giant pandas to come down from the mountains.
Occasionally, you can see red-bellied pheasants flying by.
At this point, a notification appears on the system panel indicating that the task has been successfully completed.
[Congratulations, host, you have successfully captured the apocalyptic beast. Mission complete.]
[Reward received: 1000 premium winter wheat seeds]
[Top-grade wheat seeds, capable of producing perfect rice ears; recommended for winter planting.]
This time, the reward is top-quality wheat seeds.
"This reward is not bad. We should plant something in the winter, otherwise such a large area of land will be wasted."
"It would be best if we could grow some wheat."
"Moreover, grain crops are relatively easy to manage and do not require too much care."
"Great reward!"
Xu Ran's face lit up with joy, her eyes filled with smiles.
His dream is to create a modern ecological farm.
The roads are all paved with cement. In the center is an office building. The surrounding green belts are beautifully trimmed. The greenhouses are neatly arranged in a row. The large fields are full of life, and the cattle and sheep in the breeding area are clean and tidy.
It seems that with a system in place, all of these things can be gradually achieved.
But right now, making money is the most important thing.
It's good to have some experience and knowledge.
With the mission accomplished and seeing that it was getting late, Xu Ran told the Border Collie family to go back and rest.
He also took the badger back from its cage.
That was quite a night.
After all, running a farm is a common occurrence.
The next day.
Xu Ran called the police.
Before long, people from the forestry bureau and the local police station arrived.
Police officer Wu Jun from the local police station had already spoken with Xu Ran to understand the whole story. Looking at the badger in the cage, he exclaimed in surprise:
"You caught all these badgers? They're not easy to catch; they run incredibly fast."
Xu Ran didn't offer much explanation, since catching badgers was no challenge for him at all.
"Yes, they stole a lot of my watermelons the night before last. I was guarding the watermelon patch last night, and when I heard the noise, I caught them. I know they are protected animals, so I didn't do anything, but I can't let them keep eating my watermelons."
Wu Jun nodded upon hearing Xu Ran's words.
"The ecology here has improved in the past two years, and there are more and more wild animals. It's normal for them to come when you open a farm at the foot of the mountain."
"The forestry bureau staff will release these badgers back into the wild, and they will communicate with us promptly if there are any issues."
Xu Ran immediately agreed.
"Okay, I'm fine with this."
While the group was talking, the badger was happily eating melon seeds in its cage.
Xu Ran treated them very well; as long as they finished a watermelon, Xu Ran would give them another one.
These guys are having a bit of a loss for food.
It's quite interesting to keep them.
"Then we'll be going now. We'll go to the mountains later and release them back into the wild."
Wu Jun left with the people from the Forestry Bureau.
"Hard."
Xu Ran greeted him and waved goodbye.
