Chapter 44 Power Beyond the Scope
Chapter 44 Power Beyond the Scope
Jiang Milu's laughter was still stuck in her throat when she saw Song You's face darken.
"What's wrong?" she asked, her jokes gone and a hint of unease in her voice.
"It's nothing." Song You stood up, his gaze sweeping over the courtyard wall and landing on the dark back mountain. "I just remembered I left something on the mountain, and I need to go get it now."
"It's already dark." Jiang Milu stood up, her face full of worry. "The mountain path is difficult to walk. I'll go with you."
"You stay here." Song You's tone left no room for negotiation. He turned around and grabbed a worn-out shovel from the corner of the wall. "You wait for me in the yard. Don't go anywhere else. I'll be back soon."
After he finished speaking, he didn't give Jiang Milu a chance to speak again, and strode out of the courtyard, his figure quickly swallowed by the night.
Jiang Milu stood there, looking in the direction he disappeared, her heart filled with unease.
She wasn't familiar with the path to the back mountain, and she knew that following him would only be a burden. But it was so late, and she couldn't help but worry about Song You going into the mountain alone.
She sat back down at the stone table, looked at the still steaming food, and suddenly lost her appetite.
She picked up her chopsticks and mechanically shoveled rice into her mouth.
The food tasted the same, but her mind was completely on the mountain behind her house.
Even as a child, Song You always acted like a little adult, but she was tall and thin, and you could never win a fight against her.
Song You seems to have become a completely different person now.
His shoulders broadened, and he became stronger, always appearing confident and composed. Even when facing that terrifying wild boar, he remained remarkably calm.
When he told her to stay in the room, his unquestionable manner left her with no room for argument.
"Hmph, she does look a bit better."
Jiang Milu picked up a piece of pickled cabbage and put it in her mouth. The tangy taste invigorated her, but her worries did not diminish at all.
......
The back mountain.
Song You moved quickly, and the night vision provided by [Body Fitness] allowed him to walk as if on flat ground in the dark mountain forest.
The closer you get to that earthen stove, the stronger the frenzied atmosphere in the air becomes.
He pushed aside the last clump of bushes, and the sight before him made his eyes turn cold.
On the open ground next to the earthen stove, a sow was curled up on the ground, with several cuts on her body from her tusks, and she was emitting painful cries.
The seven or eight piglets were all huddled together in the straw nest, trembling with fear.
Before them, a colossal creature strutted about, asserting its dominance.
Male wild boar.
It was almost a size larger than the female wild boar, with bristles of blackish-brown standing on end, and two tusks about half a foot long on its mouth that gleamed with a cold, eerie white light under the moonlight.
With each breath, two streams of white air shot out of its nostrils, and a low, thunderous roar came from its throat.
This was the former overlord of this mountain forest.
The male wild boar clearly noticed Song You's arrival. It stopped and turned its head sharply, its small eyes burning with anger locking onto Song You.
A violent, possessive, and jealous thought, like a tangible shockwave, blasted towards Song You.
"Get out of my territory!"
"You dare leave your scent on my spouse, you two-legged beast!"
Song You understood.
The female wild boar had been frequently coming into contact with him these past few days, and his scent had settled on her.
This male wild boar, who had just returned home, took this as the most serious provocation.
Song You ignored its mental roar; he simply shoveled the iron shovel into the ground with a muffled thud.
He used the whispers of nature to convey a comforting message to the sow cowering in the corner.
The mother wild boar received this familiar and gentle power, and her painful cries gradually subsided. She looked at Song You with pleading eyes.
This scene completely ignited the wild boar's fury.
In its view, this was blatant flirting right in front of it!
"roar!"
The boar let out a deafening roar, pawed the ground with its four hooves, and charged towards Song You.
The ground was trembling slightly.
Song You, however, did not move.
He simply watched calmly as the enormous creature drew ever closer, calculating the distance.
ten meters.
five meters.
Three meters!
Just as those two gleaming white fangs were about to touch him, Song You moved.
His body swerved to the side at an incredible angle, narrowly avoiding the fatal impact.
The male wild boar missed its target, and the immense momentum caused it to crash headfirst into a large tree nearby.
"boom!"
The tree, as thick as a bowl, shook violently, and its leaves fell in a rustling sound.
The male wild boar shook its dazed head, turned around angrily, and prepared to attack again.
But when it turned around, it found that Song You was no longer there.
He appeared beside the earthen stove.
He had somehow already pulled a lighter out of his pocket.
"Crackling sound."
A small cluster of orange flames leaped up in the stove, instantly igniting the pile of dry firewood inside.
[Kitchen Fire Control] activated!
The moment the flames rose, Song You felt his perception of this mountain forest become several times clearer.
The movement of the wind, the swaying of the leaves, even the twitching of the boar's muscles were all under his control.
The male wild boar seemed to have sensed the danger as well.
It abandoned its charge and instead approached step by step with a more cautious posture.
It will use its massive size and strength to completely crush this two-legged beast.
Song You's plan was simple.
Subdue it.
Use the most direct and purest force to completely shatter this guy's arrogance and wildness from the very core.
He watched the boar closing in and slowly pulled out the shovel stuck in the ground.
"bring it on."
The male wild boar seemed to understand the provocation in those two words. It roared again, its hind legs suddenly exerting force, and its massive body soared into the air like a small mountain, pressing down on Song You.
Song You did not retreat but advanced.
He gripped the shovel handle tightly with both hands, lowered his body slightly, and poured all of his druidic power into his arms.
Instead of using the shovel's flat side to strike, he swung the shovel, using its sturdiest blade, from bottom to top, meeting the descending black shadow head-on.
He used all his strength in that attack.
"Bang!"
A deep, muffled bang exploded in the silent mountain forest.
The shovel struck the boar's massive head squarely.
However, the anticipated scene of brains splattering did not occur.
"Snap!"
A crisp snapping sound drowned out the muffled thud.
Song You felt a lightness in his hand.
The shovel handle, made of fine hardwood, couldn't withstand his terrifying explosive force and snapped in two.
The boar, flying in mid-air, was struck by the immense force, causing its head to tilt to the side. Its massive body lost its balance in the air, tumbling and crashing to the ground, creating a shallow crater.
It lay on the ground, its limbs twitching, its huge head buzzing, and its eyes seeing stars. It couldn't get up for a while.
Song You stood there, looking at the shovel handle that was now only half in his hand, and then at the iron shovel head that had flown out of his hand in the distance, and fell silent.
My current strength seems to be a bit beyond my capabilities.
"roar."
Just then, the male wild boar on the ground wobbled to its feet.
It shook its head, trying to shake off the dizzying feeling.
The intense pain and unprecedented humiliation drove it completely mad.
Its already red eyes were now even more bloodshot, as if they were about to drip blood.
It stared intently at Song You and the broken wooden stick in his hand, letting out intermittent, venomous roars.
Song You threw away the broken handle, cracked his wrist, and his knuckles popped.
He beckoned to the wild boar that had gone completely berserk.
"It seems it's time to show you what true power is."
