Chapter 29: Why are you not playing by the rules?
Chapter 29: Why are you not playing by the rules?
Master Pu stood silently to the side for a few seconds. He looked at his apprentice's resolute and confident expression, and then at Su Nan, who remained calm and composed.
"Alright, let him give it a try!"
Finally, Old Pu slowly nodded, saying with a hint of doubt.
Of course, he was more inclined to believe that his prized student might make a mistake and misjudge the situation.
"..."
But Su Nan didn't make any move; he remained standing in place and didn't walk towards the interrogation room.
Luo Shaofeng seemed to sense Su Nan's lack of interest and became somewhat nervous. He then looked at Su Nan with an expectant and pleading expression and said, "Young Brother Su, this matter can't be delayed; it's extremely urgent. I hope you can lend a hand. Consider it a huge favor I owe you!"
"Senior, from now on, whatever you command, I, Lin Luoxue, would never dare disobey!"
Lin Luoxue also looked at Su Nan with hopeful eyes and a face full of expectation.
The other team members echoed this sentiment.
"..."
Su Nan looked out the window at the sunset and the peaceful Jiangcheng.
This place holds every detail of his life; it would be a shame to destroy it like this.
Even Su Nan was eager to know what that ethereal voice he heard in his mind was like.
Who is she?
What exactly is his/her identity?
Why do people with kind hearts sow calamities for no reason?
And is she alive or dead now?
If you are still alive, where are you?
Is there a solution to all of this?
All these doubts made Su Nan extremely curious, and she wanted to know the answer.
Su Nan even had a hunch that there might be more information hidden in that shroud.
He then walked toward the iron door of the interrogation room.
Inside the interrogation room, the curtains were drawn tightly, leaving only a single incandescent light overhead.
The cold, hard light struck the iron table, casting shadows on the polished metal surface.
The security camera in the corner was lit up with a red dot, and coils of wires ran along the base of the wall. The air was filled with the mixed smell of sweat and disinfectant.
It's so stifling it makes my heart clench.
Su Nan walked to the iron table and tapped his fingertips on the cold surface. The two taps were particularly clear in the quiet room.
It was his first time entering such a place. His gaze swept over the rules and regulations posted on the wall, then fell back on the person sitting in the chair opposite him.
The man was handcuffed and shackled to the interrogation chair. His hair was disheveled, his chin was covered in stubble, his eyelids drooped, and the corners of his mouth were turned up. He was one of the three thieves.
After a long interrogation, his mental state was clearly poor. Every time his eyelids drooped and were about to close, someone would inexplicably knock on the table, forcibly waking him up.
He was quite indignant about this repeated interrogation method.
"Go and bring the other two over too!"
Su Nan stood still for a few seconds, then turned to look at Li Huimin behind him and slowly said.
Upon hearing this, Elder Pu, who was standing nearby, immediately frowned, stepped forward to stop him, and said with an unquestionable professional tone, "No, interrogating three suspects together makes it extremely easy for them to collude and cover for each other, which will only double the difficulty of the interrogation. This is a major taboo in interrogation!"
His tone was relatively polite; he didn't act arrogantly or glare at people because of his age. He was simply stating a fact.
In his thirty years of criminal investigation, he had seen too many cases where people were too eager for quick success and instant benefits, and that three stubborn people together would only make things more difficult.
But before he could finish speaking, Li Huimin stood up, bowed slightly to Elder Pu, and said without the slightest hesitation, "Master, I believe in Su Nan!"
"Su Nan, I'll go get him right away!"
Li Huimin spoke to Su Nan.
After saying that, he turned around, opened the door to the interrogation room, gave a few instructions to the police officers outside, and then went straight to the detention room.
Old Pu stood there, his hand holding his reading glasses frozen in mid-air, his expression stiff.
Huang Yaopeng, standing next to him, moved his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but then swallowed it back, his face turning slightly red.
After a long silence, she managed to stammer, "Junior sister, how...how could she do this? She knows the rules of interrogation!"
At this moment, an old man and a young boy were standing there.
His face held an indescribable, unspoken meaning.
There was also the numbness caused by the impact of Li Huimin's clean, decisive, and swift turn.
Outsiders were unaware of the rules of interrogation.
It's understandable that people are unaware of the risks of three people living together.
But Li Huimin was his prized student, whom he had personally taught and who was the top student in the police academy every year. How could she not understand this most basic principle?
But she happens to understand.
But she did it without hesitation.
Old Pu took a deep breath and looked at Su Nan with his cloudy but sharp eyes, carefully examining him. This was the first time he had tried to find out Su Nan's background by looking at his every little detail.
"..."
Su Nan ignored the scrutinizing and curious gaze of Old Pu beside him.
Su Nan simply pulled up a chair and sat down, leaning back against the backrest, one leg crossed over the other, his legs loosely crossed, his fingertips tapping the tabletop, making a soft clattering sound like horseshoes on a bluestone slab.
His gaze didn't look at anyone, but instead fell silently on the incandescent light on the ceiling. His eyelids were half-closed, revealing no emotion whatsoever.
Old Pu looked at the boy for a long time, but couldn't figure out what was so special about him.
Wearing a faded blue and white school uniform, with a youthful air still lingering on his face, he showed no trace of the aura of an interrogation expert, nor even a hint of cunning.
Could this kid have bewitched his precious disciple? Old Master Pu wondered to himself, otherwise there was no way to explain his genius disciple's actions of vouching for him and then turning around and rushing to pick him up.
Could it be because he has taken a liking to southern Jiangsu?
Master Pu immediately rejected the idea, because he knew that his disciple was proud and not the type to be infatuated.
But all the answers have been ruled out, leaving only the last one, which, however unbelievable, is reality.
Could it be that his apprentice has really fallen in love with this kid in front of him?
"Squeak!"
The interrogation room door was pushed open again, and Li Huimin returned, followed by two police officers who escorted two other tomb raiders in.
Three interrogation chairs were placed side by side opposite the iron table. Three tomb raiders sat side by side, their hands and feet tightly cuffed.
"Why are you putting all three of them together for interrogation? What's the deeper reason behind it?"
Seeing this scene, Huang Yaopeng couldn't help but mutter to himself, his tone filled with barely suppressed doubt.
However, his words were particularly clear in the quiet interrogation room, and everyone present heard them.
His doubts were shared by everyone present.
Luo Shaofeng, Lin Luoxue, Li Huimin and the others all looked at Su Nan, and even Old Pu pricked up his ears, waiting for Su Nan's answer.
"There's no particular requirement, I just find it troublesome and a waste of time. It's faster to interrogate all three at once!"
Su Nan finally turned his gaze away from the ceiling, the tapping of his fingers continuing, and simply uttered a sentence.
"???"
"???"
"..."
As Su Nan finished speaking, everyone in the room was stunned.
Huang Yaopeng stared with his mouth agape for a long time, his face filled with the absurdity of "that's it?" He had thought there was some profound reason behind it.
Luo Shaofeng and the others exchanged bewildered glances, their hearts filled with indescribable shock. They felt that Su Nan's way of doing things was truly unconventional.
