Chapter 39 Time Management Master
Chapter 39 Time Management Master
When Bae Suzy led Dezy home, her father was humming a tune as he watered his potted plants.
He doesn't usually stay at Soo-ji's place, but during this period, Bae's mother's coffee shop is in its off-season and doesn't need help, so Bae's father has time to stay at his second daughter's place for a while.
It just so happens that his youngest son has also started working, and he lives in the neighboring Gyeonggi Province. It's very convenient for him to visit his son.
Old Pei's retirement life is wonderful, but his daughter's mood doesn't seem so good today.
She must have gone for a walk with Jung Do-hoon, right? Why did she come back so angry, throw Dezy in the living room, change into slippers, and go straight to the bedroom?
We can't start arguing while we're still in the ambiguous stage of dating...
Old Pei sighed inwardly, wiped Dezy's paws clean, and went to his daughter's door, intending to knock.
"What's wrong with calling me?" Old Pei heard his daughter's slightly annoyed voice through the door.
Logically, he shouldn't have eavesdropped on his daughter's phone call. He turned to leave, but then heard his daughter impatiently hang up the phone: "That's it, we'll talk about it later."
There was a knock on the door.
Bae Soo-ji opened the door in a daze.
"Sooji..." Old Bae grinned. His daughter was twenty-nine years old, but he still couldn't help but worry about her.
Their daughter's "singlehood" stance wasn't new, and the elderly couple hadn't even considered trying to persuade Soo-ji to find a partner.
But if a daughter is troubled in a relationship, how can a father not care at all?
"Father, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing. I was thinking of asking you to play chess with me, but you don't seem to be in a good mood, so let's forget about it."
"Oh, you mean that phone call? It was about work," Bae Suzy showed the phone number her manager had just called to Bae Suzy. "It's about a schedule where the organizers have made some new requests. It's nothing serious."
"Oh, I was overthinking it... I thought it was you and Daoxun..." Father Pei dropped the pretense. "You two should be alright, right?"
"What could possibly happen between him and me? Dad, don't overthink it. Come on, I'll go play chess with you!"
Just as he finished speaking, a phone call came in; it was from Zheng Daoxun.
Bae Soo-ji paused for a moment, and Old Bae glanced at the screen before tactfully leaving: "I can play chess on my phone by myself, I won't bother you any longer."
Bae Suzy sighed softly, but still answered the phone. Holding the phone, she leaned against the doorframe, her tone calm and composed, just like the slightly ambiguous state between the two of them before:
"What's wrong so late at night that you need to call me? Hmm?"
"There's a lot to do, let's take it one step at a time."
While Ya-hyun was still changing clothes in her room, Jung Do-hoon went outside the apartment and called Soo-ji.
As soon as the call connected, he sensed something was off about Bae Soo-ji's tone. Although she hid it well, Jung Do-hoon was no naive girl when it came to relationships.
It was just a "cancel subscription" joke. Given Bae Suzy's level of sophistication and their somewhat ambiguous relationship, she shouldn't be angry.
"I still have videos to edit, so... could you please explain it simply?"
"To be honest, I don't know what to say right now, but I just felt like I should call you. It's strange, isn't it?"
"That means you have a lot of phone bills." Bae Suzy glanced at the ceiling.
For a moment, she even tried to put herself in Jung Do-hoon's shoes and empathize with his current situation...
If a man feels annoyed that a female friend isn't replying to his messages and feels compelled to call her, what does that mean?
Something's not right. Bae Suzy shook her head slightly. It had been a long time since she had tried to empathize with others; it was too tiring and easily drained her energy.
However, Bae Suzy actually quite enjoyed this feeling—Jung Do-hoon seemed to be on the right track for her.
Uncontrollably drawn to oneself, proactively confessing to oneself, caring about one's own emotions...
Bae Suzy also felt a little strange, as her mood had actually improved.
Why is it that the older I get, the easier it is to coax myself?
"I haven't had a chance to ask yet, where did you have your dessert?"
"It's in Jongno-gu. If you want to go check it out, I can send you the address." Bae Suzy held up her phone in one hand, while unconsciously tugged at the doorknob with the other, swaying it back and forth.
"Sure, when I'm feeling down, I crave some dessert. If it's near my workplace, I can try it when I have some free time."
What could be troubling you?
"That's a long story..." Zheng Daoxun paused for a moment, then said in the simplest terms, "I brought two uninvited guests to my home for dinner."
That's it?
Bae Suzy bit her lip lightly. She hadn't really wanted Jung Do-hoon to just say it simply. There were some things he should elaborate on.
"Anyway, the matter is resolved... I've already called you, and I don't know what else I can do for the time being. How about I think about what I want to say and then call you?"
"I have to go to work now. If you need anything, just text me. I'll reply when I see it."
Bae Suzy hung up the phone, but felt a sense of relief.
Strangely enough, we didn't talk about anything substantial during the call, but it made me feel much better.
Perhaps... it's because she's back to the rhythm she enjoys?
While skillfully maintaining the ambiguous atmosphere, she also managed to get Jung Do-hoon to take a few more steps towards her and actively care about her thoughts and feelings. Let things continue like this; there's no need to force it. Everything is just right.
On Jung Do-hoon's side, seeing that Bae Soo-ji had hung up the phone, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
That's his personality flaw; he always tries his best to take care of the feelings of those around him. To put it nicely, it's like a gentle breeze; to put it bluntly... it's like having a central air conditioner.
Is this a common occupational hazard for diplomats?
Of course, he also had to admit that Bae Suzy was quite attractive to him, both in terms of personality and appearance.
Anyway, I'll call her again before going to bed. Send her a message? He's not going to do what she says.
In the time it takes to make a phone call, Ya Xian changed her clothes and pushed her wheelchair out of the room. She searched the apartment but couldn't find Zheng Daoxun.
Where is he/she?
"Miss, I'm here." Jung Do-hoon waved his phone and poked his head out from the doorway. "Get ready, let's go."
"What a disgusting name! You're not allowed to call me that anymore."
"I have to respect your position in the family," Jung Do-hoon shrugged. "If you don't like it, then forget it."
"How about you call me... Lady Ya Xian from now on?"
"I have no objection. I'll call you that in front of my parents from now on."
"No, no! This is too embarrassing!"
Zheng Daoxun has now solved a problem that would be a headache for the time being.
Meanwhile, thousands of miles away, a woman is still lying in a hotel in Jakarta, unable to go home.
Sana Minatozaki lay on her bed, glancing at the starry sky outside the window with a hint of frustration, and scratched her head: "When can we go back...?"
