Chapter 1464 I promise I won't wet the bed!

Chapter 1464 I promise I won't wet the bed!

Chapter 1464 I promise I won't wet the bed!

"What did your mother say to you?"

Li Xuewu put down his book, looked at Gu Ning's tense little face with amusement, and asked, "Did you cry?"

"Are you curious?" Gu Ning glanced at him, got onto the bed, and said, "You can call next time."

"Which month don't I make a phone call?"

Li Xuewu couldn't help but laugh, raising an eyebrow at his wife and asking, "Are you angry? Or feeling wronged?"

Gu Ning was too lazy to pay attention to him. This guy was so irresponsible at home, especially when the two of them were together.

He could analyze a matter from beginning to end in great detail, leaving her no choice but to believe and admire him.

However, Gu Ning also had her own little pride, and she wouldn't easily show an expression of admiration.

Fishing? Anyone can do that!

“I told you Mom you can’t do this.”

Seeing her calm gaze, Li Xuewu rolled over and lay down on the bed, changing his tune to defend his mother-in-law and flattering her from thousands of miles away.

"If you can be so tolerant and loving towards me, your son-in-law, wouldn't you treat your precious daughter with special care?"

Gu Ning was truly impressed by him; he said everything, and the tide had turned far too quickly.

"Mom wants you to take the child to Guangzhou."

Gu Ning pursed her lips and deliberately lowered her eyelids as she said, "It doesn't matter who goes, as long as the child goes."

"Impossible, absolutely impossible!"

Li Xuewu turned his head and glanced at her, then narrowed his right eye slightly and pointed at her, saying, "Gu Ning, you've gone astray!"

"That's something I learned from you—"

Gu Ning never expected to last two rounds with him, because this man was more cunning than a window screen.

With her limited skills, she wasn't even qualified to fight him, but what could she do? She was a novice and wasn't afraid of being a noob.

"You think you can learn this much by studying with me?"

Li Xuewu propped himself up and, with his eyes squinting, said, "Do you have some misunderstanding about me?"

"No misunderstanding, you're a big bad guy."

Gu Ning reached out and slapped his pesky hand, reminding him, "I've already finished showering, no fooling around—"

You look like you've gained weight, haven't you?

Li Xuewu continued his mischievous behavior, making conversation as he did so, his hand caressing her belly, gradually moving upwards.

"Tsk—" Gu Ning turned around and glared at him with displeasure, saying, "Are you doing this on purpose?"

"I'm going back to Steel City tomorrow."

Li Xuewu tilted his head and reminded her, "If you want to see me again, you'll have to wait until next month."

"Tomorrow morning will be next month."

Gu Ning knew exactly what he was up to. She tapped his forehead with her finger and emphasized, "Don't think about having children for now. I don't have time."

"You don't have time, and I don't have time either, so when will Li Shu's dream of having a younger sister come true?"

Li Xuewu patted his wife's bottom and said, "I've even thought of a name for our third son."

"I knew you'd think that way!"

Gu Ning turned over, reached out and grabbed his large hand, and said, "The way you look at Li Yue is like that of a child trafficker who's always ready to steal a child."

"Really? --" Li Xuewu looked at her in surprise, and when Gu Ning nodded, he said thoughtfully, "No wonder my sister-in-law always looks so vigilant, she was wary of me!"

"Don't you find it tiring to have so many children?"

Gu Ning looked at him seriously and said, "Have you thought about what will happen when the children grow up?"

"You mean Li Shu?" Seeing the slight hesitation in her expression, Li Xuewu became serious and said, "Didn't we agree that we should just have a clear conscience?"

"You know she's precocious—"

Gu Ning said with concern, "She must have understood what she was saying."

“Yes, I know.” Li Xuewu hugged Gu Ning and said softly, “No matter how smart she is, she is still a child. How could I not see that?”

In fact, Li Xuewu noticed a significant change in Li Shu's personality upon her return this time. She secretly glanced at his expression several times, something that had never happened before.

Previously, Li Shu only felt that her parents were her own parents, and no matter how naughty she was, they would love her and she would not be kicked out of the house.

Li Shu seems to have matured a lot now, but this maturity is the result of self-suppression.

Teacher Wang unintentionally fell into a trap, and her casual remark confirmed the rumors spread by the parents.

These rumors will inevitably reach Li Shu through the mouths of the children, and Li Shu will wonder what she thinks.

Those were her dear classmates and respected teachers; their words had already swayed her mood and thoughts.

Even with her parents' protection and unwavering love, it was difficult to conceal the difference in her appearance.

Gu Ning only told Li Xuewu this after she discovered Li Shu secretly looking in the mirror.

What is she doing looking in the mirror?

Li Shu also loves beauty, but she doesn't agonize over it. The doll in the mirror looks different from her father, mother, brother, and even the whole family.

Not to mention her whole family, she was different from all the children in her school and everyone she had ever met.

Her name is Li Shu, and she is also special.

In the past, she simply relied on her parents' love to suppress those different opinions with pride.

She feels like she's fallen from grace and needs to re-evaluate herself; how can she not feel lost?

Today at school, Li Shu was happy that her father stood up for her and protected her as always.

Visiting the elderly woman in the hospital and feeling the warmth of family, she was so positive and cherished it so much.

Li Xuewu felt sorry for them because of their proactive and cautious attitude. He only stayed at the hospital for a short while before bringing them back and personally coaxing Li Shu and Li Ning to rest.

"Some facts cannot be changed."

Li Xuewu sighed and said, "If not today, then tomorrow. Ultimately, she has to face this challenge herself. All we can do is remain steadfast."

"This day has come a little too early."

Gu Ning lay in his arms and murmured, "She's still so young, how can she bear it?"

"Yes, we have to trust her."

Li Xuewu patted her arm and said, "The more care you give her, the more it will cause her to doubt herself. She's very sensitive right now."

"Yes, I know—"

Gu Ning shifted her body to find a more comfortable position and said, "It's just that she's so cautious, and I'm cautious too. It makes me feel so sad."

"Don't resent Teacher Wang anymore."

Li Xuewu patted her gently and coaxed her, saying, "A mistake made with good intentions cannot be forgiven, but an unintentional mistake cannot be argued about. In the end, it is Li Shu who will get hurt."

"I wish I hadn't gone to their kindergarten."

Gu Ning threw a tantrum and said, "Or we could just get Li Shu transferred to another school."

"Goodbye, it's all the same wherever you go."

Li Xuewu comforted her, saying, "Even adults need time to adapt to a new environment, let alone children."

"Having learned their lesson this time, I believe they won't do it again. Let's give Li Shu another chance."

He explained softly, "If you really transfer Li Shu to another school, not only will Teacher Wang be upset, but Principal Liu will definitely be unable to continue her job, and her husband will also be worried."

"There will be a lot of gossip in the hospital, and who knows what might be said. My parents will also be affected. It's not worth making a big deal out of such a small matter."

"I really don't know what they're thinking."

Gu Ning seemed to have nowhere to vent her anger, letting out a long sigh and saying, "We still have to consider them—"

"No one can be ignored when living in this society. This is not the old society anymore."

Li Xuewu smiled and tapped Gu Ning's forehead, emphasizing, "Comrade, your thinking is a bit dangerous."

"You always have so many ideas—"

Gu Ning pushed his hand away, pouted and huffed, "If there's a next time, I'll transfer schools to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kindergarten. I have to be willing to give up one."

When she said she was willing to give up one side, she meant that she and Li Xuewu loved Li Shu and couldn't bear to give her love to someone else.

The Foreign Affairs Department of the Northern Mao sent letters every month, containing child support payments for Li Shu. Although Li Xuewu and Gu Ning never spent the money, it was all kept in a box.

Perhaps knowing that Li Xuewu and Gu Ning didn't like them disturbing Li Shu's life, Li Xuewu understood that no outsiders had ever appeared around Li Shu.

However, the other party knew very well about Li Shu's schooling and family life, which could be discerned from the letters.

Li Xuewu was furious about this and even called the Investigation Department and the Foreign Affairs Department to emphasize the matter.

The investigation department and the foreign affairs department also investigated several times, but ultimately nothing came of it.

In fact, Li Xuewu understands that no department is having an easy time these days; everyone is on edge, walking on thin ice.

He was just making a call to express an attitude; the fact that the other party could be so discreet was also an attitude in itself.

Li Xuewu was too lazy to argue with the other party. After warning them not to cross the line, he didn't pursue the matter further.

The higher-ups should know more about Li Shu's background, but he has never been curious about it.

The diary and several books were kept in a locked box, including the package Li Shu had brought and the glass baby bottle given to her by the Women's Federation cadres.

When Li Shu was in school, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Northern Mao sent her a letter hoping that she could go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' family kindergarten.

Li Xuewu refused without even thinking it through, without even replying; it was his right as a father.

But today Gu Ning brought it up, and we ultimately have to consider one side. Which side should we consider?

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' family kindergarten brings together children from all over the world, including black, white, and yellow children.

It's not unusual for Li Shu to go to school there. Coupled with the special teaching environment, no one will be curious about her background, and she will definitely be able to grow up more freely.

But Gu Ning regretted saying that as soon as she finished speaking, as did the silent Li Xuewu.

Both of them were afraid that Li Shu would have too much contact with the people there too early, and that she would gradually drift away from the family over time. They, along with the entire Li family, had long regarded Li Shu as the family's first child.

If that day ever comes, the most heartbroken people won't just be him and Gu Ning, but their whole family.

"Sigh—" Li Xuewu sighed softly, "Are we experiencing the debt of children too early?"

Gu Ning didn't say anything, but turned over and snuggled into his arms. She didn't dare to think about what would happen in the future.

squeak-

The door to the master suite was gently pushed open, and Li Shu walked in cautiously with her bare feet.

She glanced at the master bedroom, hesitating whether to go further in, when she heard her father's voice.

"Li Shu? Come here—"

"Dad—" Li Shu called out softly, her voice filled with grievance and a touch of joy, and ran into the master bedroom like a swallow returning to its nest.

"Dad, I want to sleep with you and Mom tonight."

"Are you planning to flood the seven armies again? Or are you trying to draw a map?"

Li Xuewu teased his daughter in a seemingly relaxed manner, then reached out and picked up the tiny girl standing by the bed, placing her between him and Gu Ning.

Gu Ning, unusually, took the initiative to reach out and pull her into his arms.

Li Shu's eyes shone brightly in the darkness, like stars in the sky, full of joy and surprise.

"Dad, I promise I won't wet the bed!"

-

"Second brother, new clothes—"

Pei Pei jumped out of the jeep cleanly and neatly, and took a bag from the back seat.

Li Xuewu glanced at her, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "Where's your brother Guodong? Why are you here?"

"Brother Shen is busy right now. He said he'll report to him when you come back next time, hehe—"

Pei Pei's joke was so funny that even she couldn't help but laugh at the end.

Li Xuewu glared at her amusedly and said, "It's kind of you, President Pei, to make the trip. Next time, just have your secretary come."

"Second brother, you're just making a fool of yourself!"

Pei Pei angrily swung the bag in her hand and bumped his leg, but the force was not as great as when Li Shu massaged his back.

"My position as general manager is just a title; I'm not even as good as the secretary you mentioned. How pathetic!"

Originally, the sisters all called him Brother Li, but later, when Li Xue went to the club, they were all around the same age, and with Yu Li's introduction, they all changed their address to Second Brother.

The only people who can call her that are her, Ou Xin, and Su Yu; the other sisters are scattered all over the world.

Even Su Yu, who remained within this system, went to the frontier; she was lured away by Xiao Jianjun.

"Even a nominal title makes you a general manager."

Li Xuewu raised his chin, took the package from her hand, and said, "When you go to Steel City, please support our business as well."

"You really dare to say that I'll take care of you?"

Pei Pei put her arm around his and swayed it as she said, "I'd like to ask you to take good care of me."

"With your word, Brother Shen and Sister Yu will also train me more, and I will try to have a secretary as soon as possible."

"It's still daylight—"

Li Xuewu pointed to the bright daylight and said to her with a smile, "Why are you dreaming?"

"Hmph—I knew it—you're angry—I'm leaving—"

Pei Pei's personality has become much more cheerful than before, with less gloom and more brightness.

Even Li Xuewu couldn't explain the details of her relationship with Huang Gan, but Huang Gan assured him that he had never committed any misconduct and emphasized his innocence.

Li Xuewu doesn't believe him at all—

Pei Pei came to deliver seasonal work clothes to him; she's currently in charge of most of the business in Beijing.

Li Xuewu had more clothes than he could wear; in less than a year in the steel city, his wardrobe there was already full.

Shen Guodong remembered to buy him clothes every quarter, always made by tailor Li.

Old Li is still in good health. The last time he came back, the other party came to his house to measure his clothes and personally measured them for him.

Li Xuewu asked him how he was feeling, and he said he was still the same.

The two looked exactly the same when they met three years ago, and even more energetic now.

The old man once placed a coffin in the courtyard, casually took out his dragon robe from the bottom of the chest to air it out, and even thought about burning it all, so that he could take nothing with him when he died.

Old Li has been preparing for his funeral for seven or eight years, and it's almost been ten years now. It looks like he can prepare for another twenty or thirty years. He'll have to wait it out.

Before, we endured the last bit of hope; now, we endure the preservation of our craft.

Old Man Li said he's taken on an apprentice, and the high-end custom-made item Pei Pei sent this time might have been made with the help of his apprentice.

The ancients valued tailoring clothes to fit the body, which is completely different from clothes bought in the market. Wearing such clothes makes one feel different and gives one a different spirit.

That's why people in the organization say he always looks more energetic than others when he dresses.

They may be the same style, or even the same material, but the difference in craftsmanship is huge.

Li Xuewu hadn't planned to bring any clothes back this time. Shen Guodong called him this morning, asking him to wait in the factory area, saying that the temperature was going to drop this week.

One autumn rain brings a chill, ten autumn rains mean it's time to wear cotton-padded clothes.

Pei Pei wasn't really angry; she just didn't dare to joke too deeply with him, so she could only act coquettishly.

"Second Brother—" Just as Li Xuewu was about to get into the car, she, who was already standing by the jeep door, turned around and called out, "Ou Xin also brought you some clothes."

Without waiting for Li Xuewu's reaction, he jumped into the car and drove away with a wicked grin.

Li Xuewu watched the departing Red Star Antelope with amusement, tossed the package in his hand onto the back seat, and got into the car.

During the National Day holiday, all employees in the industrial system, except those in special positions, are entitled to a one-day holiday.

Li Xuewu's day, however, was spent on the road.

This morning, there was a mobilization meeting at the company headquarters. I didn't even have time for lunch before I had to catch my flight.

What makes the time so tight?

Starting in September, the relocation of Hongxing Steel Rolling Mill was accelerated, with production workshops in the Beijing plant area being shut down and related departments of the steel rolling mill being relocated.

Meanwhile, the steel plant is steadily putting new equipment and workshops into operation and launching new production plans.

When Li Xuewu came out of the factory area, he heard some workers say that the noise here had been reduced a lot.

That's indeed the case. As machines are gradually shut down, dismantled, and removed, what else can generate noise?

Perhaps it was the temporary excitement generated during the relocation process, and the mess left behind after the excitement subsided.

The workshop was shut down, the machines were dismantled, and even the production tasks were transferred away. All that was left for the workers was the helplessness of saying goodbye to their old comrades, with no sentiment left.

All the workers could do was carefully wipe down the machines they used every day, just like old buddies or brothers.

They weren't wiping, organizing, and packing cold machines; they were embodying their youth and hard work.

Saying goodbye to today is also a reflection of hesitation and helplessness about tomorrow.

Some people have already received notices of job transfer, or have been transferred to secondary factory workshops, such as hardware factories, tertiary industry factories, etc.

Some were transferred from production positions to logistics and service positions, their technical skill level remaining permanently at that level.

Being transferred to a different position is considered lucky, and leaving a position isn't the most difficult thing; successfully choosing a new position is the hardest.

The new factory only has a quota of 8,000 people. With new equipment and new processes, successfully selecting a position does not mean they have a successful job. They still have many hurdles to overcome.

They not only have to compete with their colleagues, but also with high-achieving students who are about to graduate from school.

Hongxing Vocational Technical College has not been wasting its time these past three years. It has been earnestly training its secondary vocational school students and junior college students with technical courses that are all related to the group's development.

As steel companies, they have the most and largest number of steel-related majors, and they can already feel the pressure that is coming next year.

The steel rolling mill in Gangcheng only gave them six months. Next June, they will have to compete with the graduates who had once interned at the factory and were their apprentices.

I don't know when it started, but job competition has become the main theme of survival at Hongxing Steel Group, and it seems that the days of following the rules are gone forever.

Some people are nostalgic for the past and have raised objections to the current competitive pressures.

But faced with production bonuses in addition to wages and welfare benefits far exceeding those of the general environment, the workers silently chose to accept and adapt.

They were paid enough, and their living conditions and welfare were guaranteed. They couldn't seem to find any real reason to question the group's leadership.

What can they say?

Saying you miss the days when things were tough? Saying you don't want the company to thrive, so everyone has to tighten their belts?

It might have been okay to say this three years ago, but saying it today is likely to get you punched. It's easy to go from frugality to extravagance, but difficult to go from extravagance to frugality.

Workers with children are most likely to appreciate the benefits of the company's welfare system, which is reflected in all aspects of their lives.

When a son gets married, if they know that there are employees of Hongxing Steel Group in the family, they are all willing to let the woman marry him.

When a girl marries out, her family receives this benefit, and she can speak with confidence even in front of her in-laws.

If you value education, are willing to spend money, and discipline your children well so that their studies are not delayed, and they gradually enter joint schools in the coming years, they will have a bright future. Then your daughter and son will have no trouble finding partners.

At that time, the workers were treated much better than civil servants. The group offered good benefits, so the workers had more confidence in their words.

It's a steel group, a landmark enterprise of this industrial age, so it naturally speaks with authority.

“My dad said he won’t consider anyone below the deputy section chief level, unless they are college graduates.”

Zhou Xiaoling, who brought tea to Li Xuewu, said with a smile, "He has very high expectations for me."

"Yes, that's certainly a strong statement."

Li Xuewu smiled and looked at the newspaper in his hand, saying, "It's clear that you are your father's pride."

"My mom says he's just crazy."

Zhou Xiaoling was willing to talk to him more, even at the cost of undermining herself by bringing up her father.

"Our company doesn't lack college graduates, does it?"

Li Xuewu looked up from the newspaper and asked Zhou Xiaoling, who was standing to the side, "Is it because you don't have time for blind dates, or are you overwhelmed by too many suitors?"

"I dare not go on blind dates anymore."

Zhou Xiaoling pouted and said, "Wang Lu invited me several times but I didn't go. I just couldn't stand it."

"Hehe, she's quite kind-hearted."

Li Xuewu found it amusing when he heard her mention Wang Lu; that girl was addicted to being a matchmaker.

And you know what? Every couple that ended up together in the organization was grateful to her.

She is also good at interpersonal relationships; she never accepts gifts of gratitude, and even gives a gift when she gets married.

What do you think she's after?

At first, Zhao Yajun also said to her, "Why bother getting involved in these things, which is time-consuming, laborious, and expensive?"

But as time went on, he realized that Wang Lu was a typical example of someone who appeared foolish but was actually wise.

It was Zhao Yajun who noticed this, which is why she kept mentioning that her second brother, Li Xuewu, no longer worked in Beijing, and who cared about their backgrounds or connections.

Even if the second brother is still a leader in the group, the current manager doesn't care, so you'll never be able to get away with making things difficult for him.

Wang Lu also said that she was not cunning, nor did she have the ability to be ambitious, and she did not want to force Zhao Yajun to risk his life for advancement, so she could only seek employment elsewhere.

She had made up her mind. She would try to bring one couple together, and even if only one out of ten couples remembered her kindness, her efforts would not have been in vain.

Moreover, people in this era are very grateful for favors, especially when they feel indebted to someone.

To put it simply, even without Li Xuewu's protection of the couple within the group, most people wouldn't dare to bully them.

Wang Lu's circle of friends is almost all over the entire group. Even the labor union has to borrow her to help host events. Do you think she's stupid?

Offend Wang Lu?

I wonder how many people are waiting for a chance to repay her favor, and this group is growing.

With Zhou Xiaoling's excellent qualities, Wang Lu was not about to let her go. She would definitely ask Zhou Xiaoling out to meet her if she met any of her requests.

Flight attendants are still considered a prestigious profession these days; things are valued because they are rare.

This position is rarely advertised to the public. Leaving aside the salary and benefits, just the fact that you can fly every day makes you think twice.

So Zhou Xiaoling has almost become a major problem for Wang Lu, but there are still a long line of people who want her.

"Blind dates are nothing more than a unique kind of tug-of-war, where everyone is hoping to find gold in a garbage dump. You criticize me, and I despise you—"

Zhou Xiaoling looked at him and said, "I've given up. Let fate decide."

"Which kind of fate? The fate of destiny, or the yuan of one or two yuan?"

Li Xuewu smiled, picked up his teacup, took a sip, and said, "Haven't you heard the saying, 'Happiness is something you have to fight for, not something that falls from the sky'?"

"And what about your happiness?" Zhou Xiaoling asked him, mustering her courage. He was in a good mood today and took the initiative to ask about her recent situation; otherwise, she wouldn't have dared to.

Upon hearing her ask this question, her colleagues in the shift all looked at her in surprise, thinking that the flight attendant was really bold.

Some might be thinking to themselves, "Is it because of the Secretary-General's position that they're so blatant?"

"My happiness? That's different."

Li Xuewu said with a smile, "My happiness really did fall from the sky."

***

"dad--"

Li Shu was the loudest on the phone; even Li Ning couldn't out-shout her.

"Yes, I heard it, I heard it."

Li Xuewu smiled and agreed. There were still some cadres in the office who had just finished reporting their work and were about to leave. Hearing the childlike voice on the phone, they also showed a knowing smile.

The secretary-general is at his most gentle at this time.

"Dad, Teacher Wang apologized to me."

Li Shu chattered excitedly, grabbing the phone and saying, "She also said not to let other children talk bad about me, and to be a good child—"

"Hehehe, you've forgiven her?"

Li Xuewu chuckled and praised, "My daughter is great. In the future, she should be like Teacher Wang, able to admit her mistakes and correct them, okay?"

"Okay—" Li Shu excitedly agreed, chattering on and on about what happened at kindergarten before handing the phone to her mother.

Gu Ning didn't have anything to ask him; it was just that Li Shu wanted to talk to her father as soon as she got home from school.

Just as Li Xuewu had guessed, Teacher Wang would definitely take some action. Even if she didn't, Principal Liu would. This was a way of giving Li Shu an explanation.

Li Xuewu not only wants to teach his daughter to think independently, but also to let go and forgive.

Some things are not worth bothering you, so let them go gently. Forgiving others' mistakes is not punishing yourself, but rather letting yourself off the hook.

Gu Ning only asked him two questions about his work and schedule before hanging up the phone; she had study assignments for the evening.

Both of them are busy, but it's unclear what they're busy with.

On October 4, the fourth day after Li Xuewu returned, following the news from the railway locomotive factory on the 3rd that my country's first 5000-horsepower hydraulic transmission diesel locomotive had been born, my country's first rotary oxygen converter went into production.

He doesn't understand metallurgical technology, and although he is learning it now, he can't compare to professional technicians.

The converter technology originated from the Santa Y Group's introduction plan, and Li Xuewu also learned about the importance of this technology at the negotiating table.

Actually, these technologies are already considered to be at the lower end of the development hierarchy, but what can we do when we don't have them in China? If we fall behind, we have to catch up, even if we start from the bottom, it's better than starting from scratch.

Early October also saw many memorable events, such as the completion of the longest double-arch highway bridge in my country at that time—the Shuyang Xinyi River Bridge; the birth of the first fully automated long-distance telephone equipment in China; the successful trial production of the first domestically designed and manufactured advanced Hongqi brand self-propelled grain combine harvester; the production of the first automated track maintenance tamping machine for China's railways; the successful trial production of the first set of large-scale lump coal loading and unloading machinery in China; and the successful manufacturing of the first batch of ultra-thin paper for high-grade special industries…

Behind the frequent reports of scientific and technological achievements lies the overall backwardness of industrial technology and the awakening of collective scientific and technological awareness after market-oriented pilot programs.

Hongxing Steel Group is like a bull burning with fire, charging straight through the fog and revealing a future that was shrouded in mist.

With a strategic vision and a long-term perspective, the higher-ups affirmed the role and significance of Hongxing Plant in the marketization pilot program, which led to the establishment of Hongxing Steel Group.

On October 9, in order to strengthen the construction of industrial experimental bases and improve the comprehensive scientific research capabilities and level of the scientific research institute, the large-scale experimental center invested and built by Hongxing Steel Group in the steel city was officially established.

On October 10th, Li Xuewu delivered a speech at the Liaodong Industrial Leading Group Office Meeting of the Group. The theme was: "Without independence, freedom, democracy, and unity, it is impossible to build a truly large-scale industry. Without industry, there is no solid national defense, no people's welfare, and no national prosperity. We must accelerate the Group's industrial transformation, accelerate the Group's personnel and technological transformation, and comprehensively promote the Group's industrialization transformation to adapt to the development requirements of the new era, the new period, high technology, and modernization."

In September, Li Xuewu, on behalf of the Group's Management Committee, summarized the Group's development over the past three years.

His first year working in Liaodong is coming to an end. What has he done this year?

It can be seen that he actively addressed the shortcomings of the group's industrial system in Liaodong, rectified work discipline, corrected work style, and adjusted the direction of industrial development.

On the surface, it seems that he has done a lot of work, but in reality, he has another core goal in coming to Liaodong, which is to carry out a deep-level reform experiment of industrial enterprises.

The first is economic reform.

Before his job transfer, he had spoken with relevant leaders at the First Ministry of Machine Building, and that's what he talked about.

With its growing size, Hongxing Steel Group is better positioned and has the responsibility to support market-oriented experiments.

The regional economic effects and market impacts resulting from fluctuations in fixed asset investment by experimental collective units.

According to the data Li Xuewu has, collective fixed capital investment has continued to rise 68 years later.

The most significant change is that the total investment in the collective economy over the past 69 years has far exceeded the level of 60 years ago.

In less than ten years, the collective fixed capital has gone from primitive accumulation to market-oriented investment adapted to the times. Every step the organization takes is like walking on thin ice, and it is very cautious.

At this point, a leader is needed to test the waters and see if the market can withstand the test of such a huge demand for daily life and industry.

To put it bluntly, the organization is also afraid of problems arising.

Anyone with a basic understanding of economics knows that capital is crucial for the economic development of developing countries.

Without capital, there is no investment; without investment, there is no way to expand production; without expanding production, it is difficult for the economy to develop.

Where did early capitalist countries get the capital to develop?

Here we must quote a passage from Marx's Capital, which states that the primitive accumulation of capital in Western capitalist countries "was based on the most brutal atrocities," namely, the slave trade, slavery, colonialism, and the cruel and ruthless oppression and exploitation of their own citizens.

Capital accumulation in the new China, where the people are the masters, cannot rely on external expansion; it must also be constantly guarded against imperialist invasion.

Under such circumstances, accumulating capital could only be done by oneself. The rather harsh reality was that in the 35 years before liberation, the total amount of industrial capital increased by less than four times.

In contrast, in the 20 years after liberation, from 1949 to 1969, the original value of fixed assets in the national industry increased by 37.25 times.

Where did this money come from? Almost entirely from domestic capital!

Where does domestic capital come from? Mainly from national financial resources!

Where does a nation's financial strength come from? Mainly from the accumulation of wealth by its enterprises!

Another point that attracts attention is the proportion of collective fixed asset investment in total social fixed asset investment.

From 1952 to 1969, the statistical scope of fixed asset investment only included state-owned enterprises.

Therefore, existing statistics show that 100% of the total fixed asset investment in the whole society consists of collective fixed asset investment.

Li Xuewu was certainly aware that fixed asset investment in collective economy, individual economy and other economies did not appear in statistical data until after 1981.

But at this time, is there any fixed asset investment in the collective economy, individual economy, and other economies?

The answer is yes, and the organization also knows that beneath the grand scale of collective fixed asset investment lies countless seedlings waiting to sprout and grow.

No one can tell whether these seedlings are grass or crops; we'll only know once they grow up.

Some might ask, where does the money for national finances come from?

This question has likely puzzled many people: how does the government use the money in individuals' hands to develop the economy?

To answer this question, we must first understand the sources of national revenue.

According to economic type, the sources of national fiscal revenue fall into four categories: state-owned, collectively owned, individual, and others.

At the time of liberation, the vast majority of fiscal revenue came from the private sector, namely "individuals" and "others".

But by 1952, 60% of fiscal revenue came from state ownership.

After the socialist transformation of industry and commerce was completed, more than 80% of fiscal revenue came from state ownership.

Li Xuewu was certainly aware that this situation continued until 1984. In other words, the state's funds came from state-owned enterprises; after receiving the funds, the vast majority of them were invested in fixed asset investments in the state-owned economy, forming a virtuous cycle.

People usually categorize the various sectors within industry into two major categories: "light industry" and "heavy industry." The former refers to industries that provide consumer goods and produce hand tools, while the latter refers to industries that provide means of production for various sectors of the national economy.

From this perspective, at the time of liberation, light industry accounted for about three-quarters of China's total industrial output.

Subsequently, the composition of total industrial output changed rapidly. The proportion of heavy industry exceeded 30% in 1951, 40% in 1955, 50% in 1958, and reached its peak of 66.7% in 1960.

Heavy industry is the material basis for the expanded reproduction of society, and its importance is self-evident.

Considering the historical conditions in China during this period, there are at least four important reasons for prioritizing the development of heavy industry.

Given the extremely challenging external situation, it is imperative to develop the defense industry.

The development of railways, highways, inland waterway shipping, ocean shipping, and aviation must rely on heavy industry.

The development of light industry cannot rely on manual labor, but on machinery; the machinery used in light industry itself must be produced by heavy industry.

Developing agriculture cannot rely on traditional human and animal power; it requires chemical fertilizers, pesticides, electricity, agricultural machinery, and water conservancy facilities, all of which depend on heavy industry.

What is industrial transformation? What is technological innovation and industrial upgrading and transformation of group enterprises?

Li Xuewu didn't come down from the group to gain experience or to be a steward for the metallurgical plant. Instead, he came to diagnose problems and prescribe remedies, and to be the helmsman of Hongxing Steel Group, leading the organization's expectations and hopes forward.

Those above may have seen through the illusions and know what will happen in the future, just as the concept of AI was proposed as early as the 80s. Li Xuewu also knows that time is running out.

The world is running out of time for Hongxing Steel Group, and it is running out of opportunities for this nation.

Of course, football is an exception; they have plenty of time and room for growth and improvement.

"We should handle the resettlement according to the rules of previous years." After listening to Li Haiyang's report on the resettlement of demobilized and transferred personnel, Li Xuewu emphasized, "If industrial enterprises won't accept them, are we going to assign them to service departments? Adaptation is also a problem."

"The personnel department's opinion is to promote balanced development and they don't want to put too much pressure on the lower levels."

Li Haiyang explained, "It's like trying to treat everyone fairly."

"It would be great if they could be fair, but do they have that ability?"

Li Xuewu glanced at him and said, "Don't wait for them to realize their mistakes and correct them, let's take action first."

October is not only the harvest season, but also the season for veterans to retire or change careers.

Four years ago, Li Xuewu returned to the capital around this time of year. Time flies so fast; it's all gone in the blink of an eye.

"Call Director Xu and ask him if he needs any people, and how many."

Li Xuewu nodded to his secretary Zhang Enyuan and instructed, "Gangfei's requirements may be high, so the hardware factory and weapons manufacturing plant can keep more people."

Just as they were figuring out how to integrate these people, Zhang Jing walked in with some documents.

"Boss, this was just transferred from the group."

Li Xuewu took it and looked at it; it was a call from above to "strengthen combat readiness" and "dig deeper tunnels."

The group required the Liaodong Industrial Leading Group Office to set up a separate war preparedness office and contact local authorities to establish a cement plant in preparation for a major engineering construction campaign.

The era of 700 million people and 700 million soldiers, and a vast country with thousands of military camps has arrived.
