Chapter 1151: Pressing Issues 2.
After Iroh finished explaining the situation on the ground, especially the fact that two different armies were still trying to invade his region of control from two sides, Alec could only sigh.
From the corner of his eyes, he could see Connan directing his Barbarian warriors to stand guard at the two sides of the throne room, near the pillars.
Connan soon went on to explain to Alec that he had already sent some of the Barbarian soldiers to the mines to act as guards, and each of them carried a warning horn. In case anything suspicious happened, they would blow it immediately and make sure the alarm was sounded in time.
Hearing that, Alec finally felt a little lighter, he had been wondering how to handle that issue, but from Connan’s actions alone, he realized that he was no longer alone, nor was he needed for every single problem that arose.
He could now let others deal with urgent matters on his behalf, while he focused on the other pressing issues that only he could solve.
That was how he appointed the Amazon Archer Queen to act as a kind of city enforcer, someone who would oversee what happened within the city and capture offenders. Though, at the moment, he still hadn’t created any proper laws, and the prison he had seen didn’t exactly look like a suitable place to house many criminals.
Still, his plan was simple, he wanted her to command what happened within the city, while the Barbarians focused on repelling invasions, there were even some that were already patrolling the city walls and occasionally helping the Amazon women under Connan’s order, and Alec felt that arrangement was a fair trade.
It did make him pause for a moment, as he started to think of how one side was a race made entirely of barbarian men, while the other was made up only of women, and for a brief second he found himself wondering whether they would even be able to reproduce, and if they could what type of hybrid type warriors would be born.
However, just as quickly as the thought appeared, he swiftly shoved it to the back of his mind.
At last, Alec felt that this was the right time for the citizens of his city to move into their new homes, as the builders were clearly done with that phase of work and were only waiting for him to decide on the next project.
And with the Amazon archers leading the relocation, there really shouldn’t be any problems moving into their new and improved houses that looked more like modern apartments than the medieval ones Alec had met.
With those troubles out, it left Alec with just one more pressing issue at hand, how to deal with the human lord’s army at the border of Arthur’s city, and how to deal with the orcs at the border of Brandon’s city.
“Alec, you’re back. We need to respond to the attacking forces. Did Iroh bring you up to speed on what’s happening?” Agnes asked as she entered the throne room the moment Iroh and the Amazon Archer Queen had stepped out to help the residents move into their new homes.
“Don’t worry, I’ll handle it now. And for the time being, I want to thank you for helping me keep things in order while I was away,” Alec said to Agnes, as she nodded and took her seat on one of the seven smaller throne-like chairs below.
Then her eyes drifted behind her to the Barbarian standing at her back like a guard, it was the first time she had seen guards in Alec’s city.
The others, yes. Just not Alec’s.
“Don’t look at me like that. Even I’m still trying to get used to it,” Alec said.
Standing behind him was Connan himself.
Alec had tried many times to tell him that he didn’t need a guard, but it wasn’t as if the stubborn oaf would listen, he kept insisting that every king, regardless of strength, should have a guard unit. Hence all the extra drama he was forcing Alec to deal with.
After settling that with Agnes, Alec sent mana into his space pouch and summoned his golems, as all nine of his main golems appeared before him.
The moment Agnes saw the new golem,Vermis, she was visibly surprised, but she said nothing as Alec began speaking to them. He told them that he wanted two city lords killed, but first they had to deal with the force at the border first.
He made it clear that he didn’t want bloodshed, like killing the citizens of the human lords, just the soldiers were enough, and that he wanted the job done cleanly.
The moment he finished speaking, Legion was about to step forward, but Hive Queen turned towards his location, her eight red eyes glaring at him.
“Hm, it seems you have an opinion. Would you mind sharing it with us, Hive Queen?” Alec said.
“Well, Master, I believe this mission should be given to Saint, Magnito, Hunter, and Vermis. They can move in pairs, while Oni and Butcher act more as extra hands in the border wars in case things go south, you do not always have to send out the strongest golems every single time.”
“And also, if Titan and Legion are always among the golems you always sent out, your enemies will eventually start preparing countermeasures against them. I know they are strong, but sometimes versatility goes a long way.”
After Hive Queen finished speaking, Legion only snickered because he didn’t believe there was anything that could contain him, though he did not dare say anything else, Titan on the other hand didn’t care about it he would do anything Alec says.
Among the golems, there was a clear hierarchy, they all believed Titan and Legion were the strongest in direct individual combat, yet even those two always still showed respect toward Hive Queen.
She was like a more advanced version of what Agnes was to Alec’s inner circle, but for the golems. And in group battles, none of them believed they could ever truly defeat her. Not only was she able to spawn more captain-rank golems than the rest of Alec main golems, but she also possessed the largest mana pool among them.
Worse still, she was the type who would coldly have her own children sacrifice themselves for her sake if it meant reaching her desired end, and if the target somehow survived the explosion of one of her children, she would go berserk and dedicate both herself and her newly spawned brood to hunting that target down without rest.
So even though she was speaking calmly now, none of the other golems took it lightly.
To them, Hive Queen was the true psychopath among all of them, and none of them ever wanted to get on her bad side, she was more of a battle commander and coordinator than any of the others, because she had seen more, lost more, and was far crazier than all of them combined.
The only reason she behaved herself was because Alec was nearby, and every single one of them knew that.
“Hmmm, I like your idea. We’ll go with it. It also seems they’ve seen less action lately, so prepare to move immediately. Saint and Magnito, you’ll go to Arthur’s zone side and locate the city of the human lord. I’ll create a teleportation pad in his territory now, and Butcher will accompany and bring an end to the attacking party.”
“Vermis and Hunter, you’ll handle the Orc Lord. I don’t really care about those ones—you can kill them however you like, just make sure the corpses remain intact for Oni to bring back.
Now that that’s settled, it’s time for my army of Golems to show them that the members of the Gordons’ clan are not ones to be fucked with.”
