Chapter 533 The Bard's Most Useful Episode 1
Chapter 533 The Bard's Most Useful Episode 1
Hyacinth couldn't have imagined that the marigold would play the role of a druid without any warning.
Her fluffy mascot costume stunned everyone, instantly making her the most eye-catching person in the room.
"Whoa! Is that it? The druid who can transform into a natural creature!"
"The nightingale said excitedly."
"That's right! I played other scenarios with my friends when I was in Snow City, and I brought my character card with me!~"
Marigold stood with her hands on her hips, her posture a little awkward in the mascot costume, but her face, peeking out from the observation window, was full of confidence.
Before anyone could react, the familiar resembling a fox spirit appeared beside the mascot costume, deftly waving its wand to unleash a magical light screen in the air.
The character card displayed above features a level 16 Druid and a level 5 part-time Warrior, both equipped with top-tier gear and maxed-out stats.
There's even a cool legendary weapon called [Fox Gate - Guardian's Holy Sword].
"...Is this the kind of expert our team could have?" Hyacinth, a level 6 warrior, looked at her equipment stats with disbelief.
"Oh dear, she was just pulled in temporarily for a cameo role. Actually, the original attributes of Miss Marigold's character card were much more terrifying."
"If the original character cards appeared in this scenario, they would be too powerful, so I've made some adjustments to ensure that everyone's gaming experience isn't ruined~"
Xin Yuehu smiled and produced a stack of transparent file folders in her hand. Inside were several pages of photocopied paper, all containing character cards and warehouse equipment information.
You can even vaguely see the words "[Level 20 Legendary Druid]".
Continue reading the script lines:
"Guided by the sorceress, the adventurers embarked on a brief exploration in the mountains and soon found the great druid's residence."
"This druid is the nature guardian of the mountains behind the Fox Gate. She is very powerful, but will she actually grant the adventurers' request?"
"Let's begin this adventure!"
.
Before Marigold revealed her seasoned character card, Hyacinth always thought she was a novice player in this TRPG, just like Sasha.
But as it turns out, Marigold was the most senior player present.
"Oh, adventurers from afar, why do you trespass into my druidic sanctuary?"
Emerging from the heavy mascot costume, Marigold straightened her druid attire and addressed the adventurers before her.
"The Gate of Fox Virtue is under siege by the undead legion. We have received a mission from the Archmage to assassinate a general under the Lich's command outside the city," said the Hero Hyacinth.
"The undead army has disrupted the balance of nature. We hope that Your Excellency the Archdruid can lend us a hand to repel the undead army's attack and protect the Fox Druid Gate."
The monk Iris responded, trying to reason with her and appeal to her emotions.
But the Druid Marigold showed no sign of agreeing. After confirming the information on the character card and the script lines, she actually refused:
"Adventurers, I am the High Druid who guards this valley, and I have sworn an oath to maintain the balance of nature."
"The archmage of the Gate of the Foxde openly broke his promise to me many years ago and built that towering mage tower without authorization, disrupting the magical balance of this place."
"However, once the undead army conquers the city and the lich breaks free from its seal, the world will face annihilation, and the balance of nature will be severely challenged."
The winged woman, Sasha, stepped forward and took over the conversation.
Hyacinth then realized that Sasa was even bolder than she appeared—it was quite remarkable that she could deliver her lines so naturally in front of the camera.
This inevitably brings to mind a pair of pink-clad, socially awkward sisters whose style immediately becomes abstract and sloppy in front of the camera.
"Hmm... a very shrewd response, but the Archdruid doesn't seem to care about the Warlock's rebuttal—"
The fox spirit narrated the narration, and the druid marigold continued:
"Even if the lich's seal is loosened, the archmage's destruction of nature will not be tolerated. Until he receives the punishment he deserves, I will only provide you with the most basic assistance."
"This druid is so stubborn, why don't we just go and fight him ourselves?"
Seeing that the other party showed no sign of relenting, Hyacinth sighed and said to her companions.
"Hey! No, please, seniors, give it your all! I want to join in too—"
"But... um... even if you say that, Marigold..."
Seeing Hyacinth's helpless expression, Marigold, who was playing the Druid, panicked and looked pleadingly at the fox-like familiar beside her who was in charge of the script's direction.
The golden fox shrugged and spread its hands, looking helpless.
Hyacinth is a character who is extremely flawed—her strength, physique, and agility are all incredibly high, practically superhuman, but her charm and intelligence are shockingly low.
I just tried rolling several dice, and without exception, Hyacinth failed on almost every option.
"Wait a minute! I haven't said anything yet!"
Seeing that the hyacinths had killed the conversation, the nightingale, who had been observing from the sidelines, stepped forward.
Her character was an elf, dressed in a pretty and cute way, and seemed to be completely immersed in the role, politely greeting the archdruid.
"Honorable Archdruid, Nature Guardian of the Fox Gate, I salute you in the name of the distant Golden Tree Sea."
"I will use my bard talent to add a bonus to my persuasion skill with a bard's inspiration."
The bard Nightingale spoke to the fox spirit.
After a flurry of dice rolls, Nightingale, unsurprisingly, successfully persuaded him.
"The bard's words struck a nerve with the Archdruid. She understood the threat the undead legion posed to the world and decided to temporarily set aside her hatred for the Archmage of the Fox Gate and instead fight against their common enemy."
"Oh, oh, oh! How could we forget about that? Nightingale is a bard, isn't she perfect for handling these persuasive tasks!"
Hyacinth said excitedly, and Iris nodded with a smile, then exchanged a glance with the Araceae next to her.
After a brief exchange of glances, Tian Nanxing understood and quietly withdrew from his stealthy posture.
The original plan was to send Tian Nanxing to sneak into the druid's holy site at night to steal their weapons if the druids refused. However, Nightingale managed to persuade them with a lot of persuasion, and the plan had to be canceled.
Sasha listened with trepidation.
"...You all seem a bit disappointed?"
After completing her role-playing with the marigold, the nightingale turned to look at her companions, tilting her head in confusion.
"No, no, we are very happy, yes, very happy."
Hyacinth tried to salvage the situation, but Arum, with its hooded appearance, seemed ready to sneak away at any moment if negotiations failed... making Nightingale unable to believe they actually had any reliable plan.
"Now that the druids have decided to help us, let's discuss the plan to assassinate the undead general!"
Hyacinth decided to abandon that dangerous thought and focus her attention.
"How about we outsmart them?"
