Chapter 1008: He Has Grown Up, Yet Remains the少年 in My Memories (8)
Early Monday morning, Su Weiyi went to the studio. As soon as Su Man saw her, she rushed over: "Xiao Yi, you’re finally back."
Su Weiyi smiled and hugged her. Su Man was still as carefree and caring as she used to be.
Turning inside, Su Weiyi met Si Xia, whom she had been in contact with for the past three years but rarely met face-to-face.
Compared to three years ago, Si Xia, who was now thirty, appeared increasingly capable, exuding the aura of a strong woman.
Su Weiyi smiled at her, and Si Xia got up to come over. Just as she was about to hug Su Weiyi, her phone rang.
Just seeing the caller ID, Si Xia’s expression changed—not angry, but helpless.
Picking up the phone without minding the two others present, Si Xia answered directly: "Hello? Mom, alright... I know, absolutely definitely..."
Whatever was said on the other end, Si Xia’s expression grew increasingly helpless, and she seemed slightly impatient. Yet, since it was her mother on the line, she couldn’t hang up.
Finally finishing the call, Si Xia shrugged at them: "The relentless calls urging me to go on blind dates."
Su Man seemed unfazed, and Su Weiyi didn’t probe further. The three chatted about the situation. In fact, what the studio mainly needed to do had been discussed thoroughly online before, hence why Su Weiyi agreed to join them so quickly.
So now it was just a simple matter of getting familiar with the environment, and soon they each went about their own tasks.
Su Weiyi’s main responsibility was sketching, in two aspects: taking on some commercial designs, and working on the long serialized pieces she had always wanted to draw, which the studio would then operate, discussing collaborations and IP development.
The first day wasn’t busy but was fulfilling. After work, as the main person in charge, Si Xia treated Su Weiyi, the new employee, to dinner.
Only the three of them, close acquaintances, decided on a small hotpot restaurant since Su Weiyi had been abroad for a long time. Each had their own little pot.
Si Xia had slightly more contact with Su Weiyi, but wasn’t thoroughly familiar with her experiences from the past three years.
Su Man even less so, and as they talked, the conversation shifted to Xie Xiaoran.
On the path of painting, the only one who maintained a high-end artistic style with some success was Xie Xiaoran.
In the past three years, Su Weiyi had initially stayed in touch with Xie Xiaoran, but inexplicably lost contact later.
Now, hearing everything about Xie Xiaoran from Su Man, Su Weiyi felt it was all within reason.
Someone extremely talented and far more dedicated than others, if she wasn’t successful, that would be heaven’s oversight.
"Manman, do you have her phone number?"
Su Weiyi asked, and Su Man shook her head: "No, after she became famous, she got a manager. She’s not a big star or anything, but close enough, no longer in our circle... not mine at least."
Su Man hesitated before speaking again: "Xiao Yi, though it might not be nice to say, I think it’s best you don’t contact her."
"Why?"
Si Xia went to the restroom, and Su Man looked around, lowering her voice: "Before graduation, there were rumors at school about her being supported by a benefactor. I didn’t believe it at first, but then I saw her get out of luxury cars myself, more than once."
